The toxic radioactive waste going into the ocean is the equivalent of a nuclear accident such as Three Mile Island each year, only it never stops. Every 'recycling' nuclear facility in the world is just like this one. This means humanity is enduring and suffering from the radiation released from many nuclear accidents on a never ending basis.

At 47 minutes into the video; below is a picture of the outflow pipe from La Hague, taken from the video above. This pipe goes out into the ocean, where the plant pours out highly radioactive waste 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The equivalent is like dumping 33 million 200 litre barrels of waste. 

La Hague is extremely unprofitable. It’s one of the most irradiated areas on the planet. This is where german CASTOR radioactive waste transports are being reprocessed – the largest amount then goes to “Gorleben” (map), an emergency interim storage location for this violent deadly waste – because no repository is possible. The first PUREX nuclear fuel reprocessing facilities were built in the USA.

Reprocessing plants such as La Hague operate mostly with military grade plutonium. They are an invention of the military. And the used PUREX method is an invention of the military also. La Hague emits, with the support of the CASTOR, more than 1,000,000 CURIES of Tritium each Year:

The United States agreed to do this mostly by burning it as fuel in civilian power reactors, as the French do. This mixed oxide, or MOX, fuel blends plutonium with uranium to make new fuel for the reactors. The Russians are developing fast neutron reactors to burn up their plutonium.

To keep our part of the bargain, a fuel fabrication facility is under construction at the government’s Savannah River National Laboratory, near Aiken. As buildings go, it is a marvel, with concrete walls 5-feet-thick and huge quantities of ultra-high-quality steel. The whole structure could last for thousands of years.

But the project — which has more than 4,000 suppliers in 43 states and 1,800 directly employed workers — suddenly is being put on “cold standby,” a euphemism for abandoned. The U.S. Department of Energy says it is costing too much.

South Carolina is suing the Energy Department, claiming the shutdown is unconstitutional because money authorized and appropriated for construction this year will be used to terminate the project. The facility is 60 percent complete, and $4.5 billion has been spent; shutdown is projected to cost a further $1 billion.

The point is that it does not matter if they are diluted. If you ingest, swallow, breathe in radioactive particles, they damage your body at a cellular level until they manifest as illness or DNA mutations in the next generations.

Oh really ............. the only kind of evolution I see is that man will eventually poison himself and everything off the planet...... obviously some people can't look at the reality of the situation and want to argue about bananas as a reason for justifying the unbridled use and storage of source. The other option is to shut down all nuclear power tomorrow.. Over 1/2 of Ontario will instantly be in a black out.. and stay that way for the rest of life as we know it.. our society cannot survive without electricity. I by no means think that in the future nuclear will have anywhere near the role it has right now.. but right now it is a necessity. There is evidence of it everywhere especially after this freezing cold winter.. if we didn't have nuclear millions of people would have froze to death, and there were stories in the news all of the time about hydro one and other companies cutting off peoples electricity due to not paying. Municipalities are added electricity to their lists of "essential necessities". The reactor needs fuel, and the used fuel and other additional waste needs to be stored somewhere.

The “immense” waters of the Great Lakes will greatly dilute any radiation-bearing water that might leak from a proposed nuclear waste site on Lake Huron, says an expert group.

Fast-flowing surface water would also dilute leaking radiation, should the site be located in the ancient rock of the Canadian Shield, the group says.

The four-member group has filed a report with the federal panel examining Ontario Power Generation’s proposal to bury low- and intermediate-level nuclear waste in a limestone formation 680 metres below the surface, on the shore of Lake Huron.

The federal panel asked the expert group to compare whether it would be better to inter the waste at the Bruce site, or in ancient granite formations in the Canadian Shield.

The question of leakage from the site has heated up with the recent release of radiationfrom a nuclear waste site in New Mexico, the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, or WIPP.

The WIPP release does not appear to be related to water leakage — it followed an underground vehicle fire in February — but the fact that radiation had escaped at all prompted the federal panel to schedule additional hearings for the Bruce project.

At the WIPP site in New Mexico, work teams have re-entered the underground area, but are advancing in stages. They haven’t yet reached the area where the leak originated, and may not get there for days or weeks.

WIPP officials have drawn up an 11-stage scheme for drafting up a plan to re-open the site, and are only at the fourth stage.

At the Bruce site, the federal panel has been asking what happens if underground water is contaminated by radiation, and then leaks from the site.

The expert group’s report says that wherever the site is developed, any leaking water it will be significantly diluted.

The group says it’s possible that as much as 1,000 cubic metres a year of water contaminated with radiation might leak out of a site – although it rates the likelihood as “highly improbable.” (A thousand cubic meters is equal to a cube measuring 10 metres in each dimension.)

That’s a very small amount, the group says, given that the annual rainfall into Lake Huron is 42 billion cubic metres a year.

And the volume of water already in the lake is 100 times more than the rainfall, or more than four trillion cubic metres.

As for a waste site in Canadian Shield granite, any leakage would flow into active streams and marshlands

“Hence, the volumes of the bodies of water available for dilution at the surface are either immense (Great Lakes) or actively flowing…so the dilution capacity is significant,” the experts conclude.

The dilution capacity for a site at the Bruce or in the Canadian Shield, the experts conclude, are “similar.”

But other characteristics of the two sites are not.

 I think we should contain it within walls of lead, deep underground. I'm sure theres more than enough lead left over from the past few hundred years of industrial waste. No matter what, there's no simple solution, so we definitely shouldn't be producing it in the first place. And as for energy, communities should look into all the other options for powering their homes, instead of paying out to companies. Imagine a world with no bills, but plenty of hard work!

 I agree, Rolling Stewardship is the most responsible approach now. I heard a talk about this in 1992 at the World Uranium Hearings in Austria, and the message that sticks in my mind is if it's on the surface, it will be a constant reminder of our folly. We made this stuff and it will never be gone, at least never in terms of time periods that most human beings can understand. So taking the "out of sight, out of mind" approach is weak and irresponsible, because we can't guarantee any human made technology that far into the future. AND stop making more.

 If education does not become too dumbed down, I think that brilliant young minds will eventually find a solution to the radioactivity. However they need to watch and monitor it closely until that actually happens. They can isolate it as best they can where it currently sits. Wiser choices must be made. Transporting it from here to there is also dangerous!

 What I wouldn't do is bury it deep underground, where monitoring would end long before it would be rendered harmless and where groundwater would inevitably leak in, carry it to a stream, and mix it into fresh drinking water. Dry cask storage is the best we've got, which isn't saying a lot. Basically, the secret to safety for future generations is to STOP GENERATING NUCLEAR WASTE NOW.

They are, in fact, so sure that civilization will break down and current languages forgotten before the material is safe, that a special sign has been developed to post at storage sites. The sign is symbolic in nature but as any messages left behind by long forgotten civilizations to message the future generations or to warn them, the very meanings of the symbols can take hundreds of years to decipher. And even then the true meanings are only guessed at. Here is the sign ... many have already seen it and thought is was a joke meme ... I did. “There are 4 ways for air to get to the surface – the Exhaust Shaft, the Salt Shaft, the Air Intake Shaft, and the Waste Handling Shaft. When radioactive contamination is detected, airflow is directed to the Exhaust Shaft as its filter is put into place. This shaft has the only filter and monitors on any of the shafts. WIPP officials claim that it was a monitor in Panel 7 that detected radiation and set into action the sending of all the air to the Exhaust Shaft. The Panel 7 monitor is around 2000 feet from the shafts.”

When I sat down for breakfast with the local newspaper on November 17 of last year, the news was not very appetizing. The lead story, reprinted from the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, told of a campaign by mothers from Port St. Lucie in St. Lucie County, Florida, to expose an alarmingly high rate of rare childhood brain cancers there. The mothers' group, "Suffer the Children," has raised an uproar in their community, forcing the Florida Department of Health to investigate. I put my spoon back in my oatmeal bowl, in an attempt to digest some of the grisly details in the report:...

...Long ago pioneer environmentalist Rachel Carson warned of nefarious health effects from the interaction of chemical and radioactive toxins. Carson, who herself died of breast cancer, termed this a synergistic phenomenon, meaning that the combined effects of different toxins in the environment could create harm to health greater than the sum of their individual effects.

The newspaper report I read last November did an excellent job of exposing the possible effects of toxic chemicals on human health, in this case on our children. But by failing to include radiation's possible effect, and not even mentioning the close proximity of the St. Lucie reactors to Port St. Lucie, it left crucial information out of the story. Perhaps the reporter was unaware of the St. Lucie reactors, or their potential role in causing an elevated rate of brain cancer in the children of St. Lucie. Unfortunately, this type of omission is still the rule rather than the exception in the national media.

When it comes to cancer and other dread diseases, the public needs to know about all the possible causal factors. The public deserves the opportunity to make informed decisions about an industry that significantly increases the risks to public health. For the media to deny to its readers or viewers key information relevant to the risk of exposure to the radiation releases of nuclear power plants seriously compromises their ability to make informed decisions. This plays into the implausible deniability of the nuclear establishment.

A detailed look at the plots show that, for all three locations, the current spike began rising at around 6 pm, February 28th. The spikes are SYNCHRONIZED. Conclusion: There is something out there spanning ALL of Texas that started 24 hours ago.

Nuclear Emergency Tracking Center - Netc.com is an Early Warning Radiation System that takes data from private radiation monitoring stations and EPA network and creates a RBL ( Radiation Background Level ) for each 3000+ stations everyday. NORM ( Natural Occurring Radioactive Material ) radiation background level  has been simplified in name only to RBL ( Radiation Background Level ). The same calculations are still used.  Radcon-1 will be the middle of RBL ( Radiation Background Level  ) range and it will be compared to the Current Radiation at that monitoring station. The increase change between middle of RBL and the Current Radiation will set the Radcon levels 2 for small increase, 3 for higher increase, and 4 for the top of the range over a three month time frame. When RBL is above the radiation background range and other requirements are met, an Radcon-5 Alert will be issue and Email/Text messages are sent. If the Radcon-1 is Green/Yellow, the RBL (Radiation Background Level) is decreasing or staying the same level, like in Japan where most of the RBL are Green/Yellow.

Problems continue plague the Waste Isolation 

Pilot Plant in Carlsbad that registered a “nuclear event” with the DOE a few weeks back

CARLSBAD, NM (INTELLIHUB) — A massive geological waste respiratory, also known as the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), has been spewing radiation into the air as reported early on by Intellihub News. In fact, a local college is even offering free radiation tests for locals within a 100 mile area of the WIPP as plutonium continues to leak.

However, just as anticipated, U.S. government officials and the mainstream media are a day late and a buck short as they have just recently announced that at least 13 of the WIPP’s workers have been contaminated by a radioactive release.

The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is an underground repository for low-grade nuclear waste located near Carlsbad, New Mexico. The repository is sited in a natural salt deposit which by its nature, exhibits creep properties. Thus, immediately after an excavation is made, creep in the salt causes the excavation to gradually close over time, completely encapsulating the nuclear waste in salt. The E140 drift is one of the prime access routes from the shaft to the storage area. It is rectangular in shape and was initially supported by rock bolts, mine straps, and chain link wire mesh. Despite this mechanical support, creep of the salt caused a pronounced roof sag. The project required design of a support system to permit use of this drift for a term defined as “long-term, but not permanent”. Because WIPP is an active facility, the long-term support must be installed within the existing large excavation; be installed with minimal interference to ongoing waste disposal operations; and must perform adequately while additional accommodating anticipated time-dependent closure that will occur over the remaining life of the facility. Lachel provided inspection and design services, researched and developed acceptability requirements for several supplemental support options including additional rock bolts, an expansion slot, conventional steel ribs and lagging, continuous corrugated lining, yielding steel arches and lagging. Lachel also researched and developed acceptability requirements for backfill systems including fine and/or course grained salt, fine aggregates (silt/sand/small gravel), course aggregates (sand/gravel), waste rock fragments (caliche, clinker, slag, pumice) polyurethane foam, cellular concrete, and others. This research was then used to provide cost estimates and final recommendations regarding the most appropriate option.

And of course it sits on the Rio Grande...This area has HUGE problems...No wonder no one cares if the Colorado river dries up. It would mean all this gunk from all these TOXIC facilities in this area would be caught for ruining SW US.
